What is the purpose of this role?

To provide cost management support to the wider team and business unit, whilst developing your technical knowledge and skills to help you through your final year of study and begin your career as a Quantity Surveyor

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the preparation of cost plans, feasibility studies and scopes of work
  • Engaging with the wider workload amongst the team by reading cost estimates (cost reports etc) and other related documents thoroughly and making notes and own comments
  • Helping to prepare and evaluate tenders and provide contract documentation
  • Attending client, site and design team meetings where required

How will you know if you are succeeding?

  • You will understand the basics of cost planning and how to approach and read cost estimates/reports with limited support
  • You will form new relationships with team members, the wider Bruceshaw team and clients with ease
  • Exhibit a positive and collaborative attitude
  • Build a reputation for reliability amongst the team
  • Actively contribute in your team and business unit and speak with honesty and respect

  • Understanding your own limits in your technical knowledge and seeking help and advice where appropriate
  • Ensure all communication both written and verbal is clear and concise

Previous experience and credentials

  • Currently in Year 2 of a RICS accredited full-time university degree in Quantity Surveying or a closely related subject
  • Candidates should be on target to achieve a 2:1 or above
