As cost managers to KCC we are developing design proposals for a new primary school. Working closely with the design team extensive feasibility studies have been undertaken to reduce the amount of energy required to run the school even before the incorporation of renewable sources of energy. Simple but effective design solutions e.g. 'air scoops' and 'sun pipes' to promote the use of natural ventilation and daylight throughout the building have been promoted as effective ways to reduce the carbon and economical footprint on this building. The key project drivers are sustainability, waste reduction and maintaining biodiversity on the site and the entire team have supported the client in achieving these aims.
